Survey Design and Analysis
Duration: 3 Hours
Format: In-Person or Virtual
Ideal for: Students preparing for a capstone or research-focused design project
Learn how to design meaningful surveys, analyze responses, and translate research into actionable insights.
About this Workshop
This companion workshop builds on the concepts introduced in Data-Driven Design by taking a deeper dive into survey design. Students begin by defining what they're trying to measure before determining the best question types to gather that information, analyze responses, and translate findings into meaningful insights.
Through hands-on activities, students develop a practical framework they can immediately apply to their own design research projects. This workshop is especially well suited for students preparing for a capstone, thesis, or other research-focused design project.
Participants will learn how to:
Define clear research objectives and intended outcomes
Determine the most effective question types for what they're trying to measure
Design clear, measurable survey questions
Analyze survey responses for meaningful insights
Translate findings into actionable recommendations
Resources for Continued Practice
Participants receive a collection of survey templates, question libraries, sample datasets, response frameworks, and my custom Likert Scale Calculator. These resources are designed to extend the learning beyond the workshop, providing practical references students can revisit as they develop research projects throughout their academic and professional careers.
