About this Workshop
Design may be the most visible part of a workplace project, but it’s only part of the process. Before a project reaches the design team, organizations must determine how much space they need, who it needs to support, and whether to renovate, resize, or relocate. After move-in, the workplace keeps changing. Employees come and go, teams grow, seating needs shift, and new policies change how the office is used. Those day-to-day changes eventually become the data that informs the next big workplace decision.
This workshop introduces students to the broader workplace lifecycle and to occupancy planning as a profession that helps organizations manage that evolution. Through an interactive case study, students step into the role of an occupancy planner, using employee and workspace data to solve to day-to-day changes, address space challenges, and recognize how those changes impact the broader strategy.
